Our Mission: To keep Jerry’s memory & story alive
This website is dedicated to Jerry Donald Lewis, a young man from Oklahoma who gave his life in Vietnam on March 16, 1966. During the Cold War, Jerry served as a radio operator and a LRRP at Nellingen Barracks in Germany. In August of 1965, he volunteered for service in Vietnam. He was only 24 years old when he was killed, leaving behind no spouse or children to carry forward his name and legacy.
Jerry was survived by his mother, father, and his sister, Judy. While his parents have passed in recent years, Judy carried a profound, lifelong concern for her brother’s legacy, wanting more than anything for Jerry’s name and story to be remembered.
Today, that baton has been passed to the next generation. Judy’s sons, Chris and Doug, have taken up the mission of digitally archiving Jerry’s life—preserving his journey for all to be inspired by.
This site is a living effort to ensure that history is protected and that the name Jerry Donald Lewis—known to his fellow soldiers, Jayhawks, and Sky Soldiers as “Red”—is never forgotten.
